A missing link

The missing link in this case is a person who connected me back to a social network long before I was thinking about friends in terms of "social networks" - back in high school!

So do you remember high school? I remember some of it, not because I hated it but because it's so long ago (6+ years now). All in all I had two high schools. One in Germany, Georgius Agricola Gymnasium, and another one, Cedar Crest High School, where I went for just one year (1998/1999) when I were in the U.S. for a student exchange.

My time in German high school is devided up into "pre 11th grade" and the time past. Primarily because the student exchange took place after 10th grade and once you come back for your Junior year in Germany you go to school with other people and your friends are a grade above you - Seniors at the time.

A couple days ago this girl from my "pre 11th grade"-time sent me a message on Facebook, which did surprise me a lot because even though we spent five years together in the same class - and I think we even sat next to each other for about a year, and our parents know each other pretty well - I have not really talked to her since 10th grade. At least it feels like this.

She told me that there are many people on the German Facebook (Studivz) and two days ago or so I looked up all those people from a long time ago and sometimes had problems remembering names, saw how some look just the same like back then, others are getting hold (the hair, you know) and so many of them I know so well, but I haven't talked to in ages.
